Witch Gal Silhouette: Free Halloween Graphics

Anyone noticed the flying bats that are now on the blog?

And here we have the second in the series of a happy and confident witch. I like silhouettes. These remind me of German papercutting (Scherenschnitte).

Right-click to save. Good for scrapbooks and e-cards and more. From HRK here at SkullBlossom.

Free Halloween Graphic: Witch Silhouette

I drew a whole series of this vibrant young witch, while awake in the very wee hours, using a Flair felt-tip pen, and then scanned them and cleaned them up with my favorite graphics program, Paint Shop Pro 8. I have the later versions but always go back to version 8, which is probably strange since it's the most "hated" version ever of that software. I love it.

This is one of the few free graphics I do sign with my initials. I really like how this little gal turned out. More of her all this week!

I think she'd make a fine e-card, or the centerpiece of an altered art collage.

Hope you enjoy.

Free Autumn Graphic: "Wheel of Cheese" Pumpkin

Here's a copyright-free photograph of a Rouge Vif D'Etamps pumpkin growing in my garden. It's an old heirloom pumpkin that originated in France. It is flat, like a wheel of cheese, and is also sometimes called the "Cinderella Pumpkin." It has a deep orange color when mature.

I always grow pumpkins and this one is my hands-down favorite, although I do admit that the Wee Be Littles also have my heart.

Free Baby's First Halloween Scrapbooking Graphic

A little witch tries out her broom on her first Halloween. I don't know any non-witch one-year-olds who could balance on a broom. It must be a witchy gift.

I think it's so fun if someone's birthday is on Halloween. It just lends itself to so many festive celebrations and extra-special touches, like having devil's food cupcakes and an extra-special costume.

I think this graphic would be really cute for scrapbooking.

Baby Witch Free Halloween Graphics

Ah, this one is sweet and a treat and not dark and scary at all.

My thanks to a long-ago artist for the depiction of the baby, somewhat altered by me and placed on a hand-drawn broom.

Tomorrow I post the "baby's first broom" version of this.

Right-click to save. Hope you enjoy.

Free Halloween Graphics: Chipboard Primitive Witch

Here's a teeny graphic of a flying witch, made to look like a chipboard card. I got the idea from a little "primitive" button I saw on a blog and thought, "Hey, chipboard! I could do that." Chipboard is just all the rage right now. I love the vintage stuff, like Putz houses and the embossed German Halloween cutouts. Divine!

Right-click to save. This is a transparent png file and will seem to "float" on the background color, as it does here. There is no orange border around this graphic; that is just a feature of our blog.

My Other Car Is A Broom

Claws at the ready, a witch and her cat fly through the autumn sky.

I really like how this one turned out. I have a whole series of witchy sillhouettes to post next week.

Right-click to save. Hope you enjoy. Don't you wish you had a flying broom with gas prices this high? You could probably get something like 200 miles per gallon of witch's brew.

Raven: "And you can quote me on that."

Why is it that I can recite the entire Poe classic "The Raven," yet I can't remember my own cell phone number?

Free Halloween and Autumn Graphics: Ribbon Rules Rule

These are called "ribbon rules" and they are very handy indeed for using in digi scrapbooking, for digital art, and for dividing sections of webpages or blogs.

These are "Halloween" and autumn color combinations. Each rule is 776 x 8 pixels or so (although the "properties" tab when it's clicked in the blog is indicating differently -- it's wrong), and what is shown below is not as long as they are in reality, but you can get the feel of the ribbon by the section shown.

Right-click to save onto your own computer's hard disk!

Thanks for stopping by.

Have A Purrfect Halloween, Says Kitty

A slim black cat, possibly spooked by the unexpected arrival of his bat friends, poses with a pumpkin and wishes everyone a very happy Halloween 2008. This free Halloween graphic is based on a very old postcard, possibly German.

Hope you enjoy. Right-click to save onto your own computer!

I love the bittersweet vine! The berries just shout "It's autumn!" to me. And they are food for birds, too.

Hope you enjoy.

Norwegian Witchlet

Here is an altered image from an old Norwegian decoupage sheet. I've turned her into a wee witch, ready for Halloween fun with her little book of spells. Problem is, in school she has such trouble with spelling!

Hope you enjoy.

Peter Peter Pumpkin-Eater

This is an old coloring-book page, but I don't remember from when or where. I have thousands of vintage images, all in special "map drawers," which are giant flat drawers in a metal casing. I've been throwing cards, books, napkins, and so forth into them for years.

This image seems to be something of a German version of "Peter Peter Pumpkin-Eater."

I colorized the image and post it here for your use. I resized it and lost a lot of its quality, but it was simply too big before. Paint Shop Pro can do wonders, but like any tool, it performs best when used by someone with real skills! And I am lacking in terms of digital skills, for sure.

Hope you enjoy.

Vintage Altered Art: Shadow Pumpkin

I love how the original artist used gray tones to make this look like a pumpkin at night. I cleaned it up and altered it to add bats and some smoke.

Quick Vintage Graphic

Just a quick "extra," a copyright-free vintage graphic. Halloween used to be a much bigger celebration in the U.S. than it is today, despite being second only to Christmas in terms of expenditure nowadays. At the turn of the century, it was quite the fashion to have elaborate parties if you could afford it, or to at least have some type of get-together, often tied in with a harvest theme and a fortune-telling theme. Many young people attempted to find out "who" would be their true love through palmistry and portents, many of them involving simple materials such as apples and chestnuts.

Hope you enjoy. Click, let the larger image load, then right-click to save a copy for yourself.

Pumpkin Growing

Sometimes it's hard to find a copyright-free image of a pumpkin growing. Here is one that was taken of a white pumpkin ("Lumina") in my yard, along with a late blossom.
